No ePassporte Use for U.S. Online Poker

EPassporte is no longer a deposit option for online poker purposes for residents of the United States. It appears that the alternative for U.S. citizens of making deposits at online poker sites via the electronic service ePassporte is being discontinued.

It is reported that the use of the ePassporte electronic money service is no longer possible for U.S. citizens at online poker locations. It appears that the cessation of this service is due to the current U.S. legislation regarding online gaming. The option of an ePassporte e-wallet service proved to be effective and has been a preferred method of online payment for many online poker players. Up until now, ePassporte deposits were possible only for online poker and not for other online casino games. This was perhaps in an attempt to avoid any involvement in issues concerning U.S. legal matters and rulings against online gambling. It now seems that this strategy was in vain as the present withdrawal from the market gives the impression that it is due to mounting pressure from law enforcement officials in the United States.

The option of ePassporte became a popular alternative once Neteller stopped offering similar online banking services to U.S. citizens following the introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). Due to the passing of the UIGEA, the transfer of money between online gambling locations and gaming clients has become increasingly difficult.

As of today it seems that there has been no official public statement by ePassporte in this regard, but it appears that there has been communication with various online poker sites that offered the ePassporte service as a preferred or possible method of online payment. It is a distinct possibility that the discontinuation of the service is a result of pressure by the U.S. authorities.

It is believed that ePassporte will continue their online banking services in other areas. In addition, it should be noted that it does appear that ePassporte clients may still withdraw funds from their e-wallet account either by means of an electronic transfer or via the use of an ATM card.
