Short Stack No Limit Texas Holdem Strategy or SSS is one of my most favourite strategies. It will probably suit everyone – both beginners and professionals. The essence of this strategy is that we sit down to table with the least possible stack of 20BB. With this we play very tight. And when we have perfect cards we act aggressively: in most cases we participate in one-two betting rounds.

The following are the advantages of this strategy:

• For the game you need a small stack and can quickly increase the limits. To come to the next limit you need about 50 stacks or 1000BB.
• It is sort of game of a pattern. We participate in one-two betting rounds. All the solutions are simple. That is why it is sufficient to quickly familiarise yourself with this strategy and start to play several tables.
• The gamblers with short stacks are often underestimated. That is why the chance to get a good for you call or reraise from the opponent with bad cards is higher.
• Relatively small swings.

This strategy is not void of drawbacks either:

• In most cases you will have to act as a robot. This strategy is for patient gamblers.
• Winrate while playing using this strategy is very little.

Bankroll management

For the game at a certain limit you need 1000BB. We sit down to table with stack of 20BB.
You may get off table as soon as your stack reached 25BB. Rebuy at 15BB.

For example, you play in NL10 with the BB size of $0.10. Then you sit to table with $2. You leave table with $2.5. Start additional buying from $1.5.

Selection of table

It is not difficult to select a table for Short Stack No Limit Texas Holdem Strategy. It should be practically full long table. You can't play Holdem at short tables. If less than 7 players remained at the table, then choose another table to continue the game.

Starting hands

As I have already pointed out, we shall only play very strong hands.

From the early position:

AA, KK – raise or reraise
QQ, JJ, AK – raise or reraise, but only if before you there was only one reraise

From the middle position:

Same as in the early one + TT, 99, AQ - raise

From the late position and blinds:

Same as in the middle one + 88,77, AJ, KQ – raise

Raise size – 4BB + one blind each for every limper. Reraise – 3 times the initial raise.

Game at postflop:

If you have a ready hand (at least top pair with a good kicker) and you bet at preflop, then bet the bank size or go all-in.

If you have trash at hands but you raised at preflop, then bet slightly more than halfbank while playing against one player. Otherwise immediately switch to check/fold.

The plumies

And now – comes the most interesting question. Where can I run in this strategy?

I advise the following poker rooms according to decrease of their plumliness: CarbonPoker, AbsolutePoker and TitanPoker.

I don't advise to play PartyPoker using this strategy, if you have not mastered it rather well. There are quite many good players from Germany who know how to play against short stacks.

And neither I advise to use this strategy at FullTiltPoker. The level of cash players is much higher here than in majority of other poker rooms.
