SNG, a shortened form of the term Sit n Go, is the name of a style of poker tournament. The main element that characterizes the SNG is that it has no scheduled start time and the action begins once there are enough interested participants.

SNG Basics

Unlike other poker tournaments, the way in which an SNG works is that a player selects a particular tournament and then arranges a buy-in. There is no necessity for advance registration as players are required to buy-in and then the tournament only begins once enough players have registered.
